The Problem
A homeowner in Seville Grove contacted Swan’s Professional Plumbing after their existing Rinnai 20L continuous flow hot water system failed.
The heat exchanger inside the unit had developed a leak, allowing water to reach and damage the control board. With two major components affected, repairing the existing system was no longer the most economical option.
The homeowner decided to replace the failed unit with another Rinnai 20L continuous flow system.
Our Solution
Before removing the old hot water system, our licensed gas fitter tested the existing gas supply to make sure there were no gas leaks or other problems that needed to be addressed.
We then:
- Decommissioned the failed Rinnai unit
- Installed a new Rinnai 20L continuous flow hot water system
- Secured the new unit to the wall
- Installed a new valve kit
- Modified the existing pipework to suit the replacement unit
- Commissioned and tested the new system
- Checked for leaks and confirmed the correct operating pressure
Because the replacement system was similar to the existing unit, the home’s gas, water and electrical infrastructure was already suitable. There was no need to install a new gas line or arrange additional electrical work.
The Result
The homeowner had a new continuous flow hot water system installed and operating correctly, without needing extensive changes to the property.
The total cost of the job was $3,161.56 including GST.
This Seville Grove job is a good example of why a like-for-like hot water system replacement will generally cost less than changing to a completely different type of system.
When the existing gas supply, power and pipework are already suitable, much of the supporting infrastructure can remain in place.
