The Problem
A homeowner in Hammond Park contacted Swan’s Professional Plumbing after finding water pooling at the base of their hot water system.
Once a tank splits, there’s no repairing it. The unit has to be replaced.

Our Solution
The customer chose a like-for-like replacement with a new Rheem Stellar 160L.
We then:
- Pressure-tested the gas pipework to confirm there were no leaks on the property
- Decommissioned and removed the old unit
- Installed the new Rheem Stellar 160L and connected it up
- Replaced a faulty tempering valve, with the customer’s approval
During commissioning we picked up low hot water pressure and traced it to the faulty tempering valve. That’s exactly why we test everything before we leave rather than just lighting it and driving off.

The Result
The homeowner had a new hot water system installed and working properly, with the pressure problem fixed on the same visit. The total cost of the job was $3,826.95 including GST.
The price covers the new unit, the valve, the gas work and the testing that catches problems while we’re still on site. You can see more examples in our hot water repair cost guide.
